Canine Massage

NOW AVAILABLE!

The summer of 2012, I completed my practitioner level training, for canine massage, through the Petmassage Institute, in Toledo, OH. I studied canine anatomy & physiology, kinesiology, pathology, behaviorism, along with canine massage therapy & energy work. While working on my training as a massage therapist for humans, I realized how much I missed working with animals. I worked with animals through out my life, in WA state, Panama City & Tallahassee, FL, and wanted to find a way to use my new knowledge to continue to help them. After working with rescue animals, & in veterinarian clinics for years, I have a passion to help animals that are sometimes difficult to work with, and are recovering physically & emotionally.

Canine massage offers many of the same benefits that people receive from massage, and so much more. As in people, canine massage can:

  • increase circulation & range of motion
  • reduce pain & comfort tired muscles
  • promote homeostasis & relaxation in the body
  • provide comfort from stiffness & pain in older dogs
  • stimulate digestion & restful sleep
  • offer support when the body is experincing illness or injury
  • be helpful pre & post surgery

Massage can benefit dogs with behavioral issues as well. It can help with issues caused by fear, anxiety, past abuse, and neglect. It can help improve fear of touch (such as with nail trimming), fear of people and even fear of their own bodies. It can bring them comfort during times of grief and stress. Massage also brings self awareness to dogs that many do not have.

As with people, theraputic massage can play an essential part in your dog's healthcare regimen. I have personally worked with dogs with hip dysplasia, elderly dogs with chronic pain, previously abused and neglected dogs, dogs terrified of nail trims, and dogs who have a tendency to bite. Massage helped all of these dogs with these issues. The benefits of massage are incredible!

Petmassage is slowly becoming reconized across the country. Registered Veterinary Technicians can receive continuing education credits through RAIVE for taking the Petmassage courses. Licensed Massage Therapists (for humans), receive 200 hours continuing education credits for the courses I completed, through NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork).

It is very convenient to set up a massage for your dog. I come to your home, so it lessens the stress your dog may experience leaving the house, or going to an area that smells of other dogs. All I need is the space, and time to work with your canine companion.

Canine massage is beneficial to almost any dog, and gives their caregivers a chance to give back to them what they cannot give themselves.

Simply click on "Contact Information" on the left side of the screen to email me with any questions, or to set up an appointment. Rates begin at a minimum charge of $45.

I just wanted to add a special thank you to my client's caretakers for allowing me to use our sessions in my video so that people can get a glimpse into the world of canine massage, & the joy it brings. Thank you to PetMassage Training and Research Institute, their volunteers, my classmates and especially Johnathan & Anastasia Rudinger, for such a wonderful, life changing experience. I will now always hold a special place in my heart for Toledo.
